RC (Reinforced Concrete) slab is a solid concrete roof cast with steel reinforcement. It is stronger, more durable, and better for flat roof areas. RC slab can also serve as a floor for a future second storey.
RC slab costs more than roof tile because of the structural works involved — formwork, reinforcement, and concrete casting. It is suitable for double-storey extensions and areas where strength and durability are priorities.
An awning is a covered structure using metal or polycarbonate sheets on a steel frame. It is used for covered open areas — car porch, backyard, or walkway. Awnings are relatively affordable and quick to install.
Awnings are not a replacement for a proper roof. They are suitable for covered outdoor areas but not for enclosed living spaces.
